Salsa Dancing in Spain
By Jennifer
I just returned from a fabulous two-week vacation in Spain. While there, I spent time in three major locations - Madrid, Costa Blanca, and Cádiz. Thankfully, one can find salsa dancing in all locations. Unfortunately for me, I missed the best nights in Madrid and was only able to go out while visiting Benidorm, Spain located on the coast.
In Benidorm, I went to Conuco Havana (see photo). I found the place as we were strolling the city. My eyes were constantly peeled for anything Cuban as it generally meant dancing! We casually walked in and found tango music and dancers. I gave a sigh of relief when I was informed that salsa would start at midnight. When we returned, I gave a few lessons to my Puerto Rican husband and then proceeded to dance a couple of dances. Everyone danced on1 in a mixture of Cuban style and track while the music was strictly a "best of" in salsa. Conuco Havana is located at Calle Esperanto 8, Benidorm. Esperanto is a main street running through the middle of town so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Please note that if you dislike smoke, you will dislike dancing in Spain as each person in the club was smoking at some point and time.
