The ATL - Casino and Rueda Dancing in Atlanta
By Stefanie

As
far as people go, the scene was amazing! It was definitely the spot
for casineros AND it was free!!! Usually you go salsa dancing somewhere
and can spot the casineros here and there but at Apres Diem they were
all in one place and were all amazing to boot! With a group of casineros,
of course, there was rueda and when we got the circle going almost 100%
of the dancers participated!
The atmosphere itself was very relaxed and comfortable. I didn't know anyone and they pulled me right in to join in on the funno ego or attitudeeveryone was there to dance and have a good time and the music was great toolots of timba! The only drawback for me was the space. The dance floor was basically in a side room of a restaurant; space was very limited and you had to literally watch your back to make sure you weren't about to take out someone behind you with a flare or something while you were dancing. It's nice that dinner was the main event with a little dancing on the side but for someone who just went to get my salsa on that aspect was a little frustrating.
(editor's note: Stefanie was able to meet-up with Julian Meija, organizer of SalsAtlanta and SalsaSpaces. Julian has been a friend of SAOCO for years and is known world-wide as a great casinero!)
