David La Rosa
Dancer/Babyface
David comes to us from Lima, Peru where he was born. He has lived in the United States for the past few years and speaks excellent Spanglish. He is learning more everyday!
He began dancing salsa about a year and a half ago and was introduced to SAOCO through lessons at Cecilia's. Although, to dance with him, you would think he'd been dancing his whole life. He is very smooth on the dance floor and a great lead. And ladies, his smile makes it all worth it. David joined SAOCO about 9 months ago and jumped right in with both feet. As a beginner, he was able to perform the La Bola routine and did an excellent job. Besides salsa, David dances merengue and bachata and is learning cha-cha!
When not working at a restaurant/pub in McLean, David loves
to play percussion instruments. Currently, he can play the timbales,
congas, and the bongos (as you can see above). The playing of these
instruments is probably why he keeps time so well while dancing. Rumor
has it that he can be found playing these instruments in big parties
throughout Maryland, but, this writer has yet to see the evidence herself.
He also loves Puerto Rican food - specifically - arroz con gandules.
